Ann Curry

Ann Curry is an American photographer and journalist who has been reporting for over 45 years focused on people suffering from war zones and natural disasters. Curry has reported on wars all over the globe, including Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry, (born November 19 1956 Agana American journalist, television news reporter and anchor who is most famous for her job as a reporter on the Today program, which was a morning news program aired by the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry was noted especially for her reporting on human rights issues in war-stricken countries and on natural catastrophes. Curry was the child of an U.S. Navy sailor and the daughter of a Japanese woman. In the aftermath of World War II, her parents began to meet during her father's service in Japan. Because of her father's military service, the family moved quite a bit. Curry was a student at the High School in Ashland Oregon. Curry graduated in 1978 with an undergraduate degree in journalism from the University of Oregon. Her exposure to different cultures as well as her experiences throughout her childhood may have influenced her empathy way of communicating on issues of international significance. Curry's family relocated often which is why Curry was not able to stay at a single school for more than two years. Curry attended various schools including San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia as well as Virginia. Ashland was her final high school. Her path to an impressive career when she started her broadcasting career as an intern in KTVL Channel 10 in Medford Oregon, eventually becoming the first female news reporter at the station at the age of 22. She then moved up to anchoring and reporting at KGW which is an affiliate of NBC located in Portland. Then, four years later she moved into Los Angeles and became a reporter at KCBS TV. Two Emmy Awards were won during the six years she worked for TV station KCBS.
